SBI BANK PO 2013 - Analysis, expected ranks , cut offs and lots more

The SBI Bank PO assessment test was conducted in two parts
The first part was two hour aptitude test with multiple choice questions
The second part was a subjective paper of one hour based on resting the writing skills of the candidates
 
Date of Examination:  28th April 2013
Reporting time at the centre: 8.00 am
 
Staring Time of aptitude exam: 8.45 am (200 Marks)
Ending Time of aptitude exam: 10.45 am
Start of Descriptive/subjective Test: 11.00 am (50 Marks)
End of Descriptive/ subjective Test: 12.00 pm

What is at stake?

1500 seats in India' s State bank of India.

An unprecedented number of 17 lakh applicants had registered this year, just to appear for the written test. This gigantic leap in the number of candidates is being attributed to the following:

1) The slowdown in job market owing to global economic crisis in America and Europe which has prompted graduates from all disciplines of undergraduation to go for this opportunity.

2) From engineers and working professionals to commerce graduates to people pursuing higher education and Postgraduation have applied for the PO post (probationary Officers).

3) Attractive and arguably , a better starting pay package than the one offered by any other bank or that matter of fact any other company in the market. The Compensation per annum at Mumbai is Rs 8 Lacs Plus. Here is a snap shot of the emoluments.

3)     Fill in the blanks with appropriate words (5-Questions, Vocabulary Based)
4)     Para- Jumbles (5 question based on a single paragraph- What is the first sentence, Second sentence, Last sentence etc.)
5)     synonym and antonym pair (5- Questions, Vocabulary based)
6)     Paragraph Blanks(Vocabulary based- Fill in the blanks) – ( 10 Questions)


GENERAL AWARENESS / COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE/ MANAGEMENT KNOWLEDGE
1)    Basic Current affairs ( News/ Academy awards etc.)

Descriptive Test

i)      There was a choice of writing one out of three given options.
ii)    Formal and informal letter Writing

2)    Paragraph Writing ( 10 marks – choices given- write on any one of the given topics)
3)    Answering Based on information given in the passage (10 marks- Passage based on inflation)
4)    Précis writing of a given Passage. (10 marks- Passage on e-commerce payment methods. 150 words)
5)    Essay (10 marks – choices given- write on any one of the given topics- 250 words)
